It is always the way that the woke of one generation will be devoured by the woke of the next. Who could imagine that feminist icon Germaine Greer and the heroic gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell might find themselved “no platformed” on British campuses, the marxist madrassas at the cutting edge of the woke revolution? The “crime” of both Greer and Tatchell was not to understand the pyramid of victimhood and thus to question even some of the demands of those currently perched at the top of the pyramid, the Transgender community. As we discovered yesterday with lesbians who do not want to have sex with a “woman with a penis” such challenges are just not allowed and are, at once, branded as hateful and bigoted.

A few years ago Serena threatened to stuff a tennis ball down the throat of a female line judge who had made a call she disagreed with. Yesterday she smashed her racket and abused the umpire with words that were defamatory and in the end got fined a piffling amount. She then said #Metoo – that is to say this was all sexism as male athletes could get away with worse. This ensured that her match will not be remembered for a glorious victory for underdog Naomi Osaka as she became the first ever Japanese to win a Major – but for Williams and her revolting tantrum.

It is bad enough that Serena Williams shows rank hypocrisy on the matter of equal pay in tennis. She also diminishes her status as a great athlete by her refusal to condemn a proven drugs cheat, that is to say Maria Sharapova.
Sharapova faces a ban for tennis after she was caught using a substance which from January of this year was banned. Sharapova has been using it for ten years and claimed that it was only administered on medical advice. Sadly

Serena Williams is an amazing athlete but as she led the charge to get some sexist old coot booted out of tennis for saying women atheletes were overpaid she stands guilty of rank hypocrisy.
